Eyes burn when lenses insertedFrom: Paul CommentsI am a new contact lense wearer. When I first put my contacts in, I get a burning sensation for about 2-3 minutes. I apply the rewetting drops after they are in and that seems to help the burning. After 2-3 minutes the burning goes away with no other discomfort after that. What's going on here? Re: Eyes burn when first inFrom: CLI Paul, What type of solutions do you use? Regards, CLI Re: Eyes burn when first inFrom: Paul CommentsI use Opti-Free Express and Opti-Free Rewetting drops.
Re: Eyes burn when first inFrom: CLI Paul, In practice I have found very little sensitivity to those particular solutions. In these cases it is worth adopting a process of elimination, in conjunction with your optometrist; a) Are the lenses old? Are they disposable? b) Have you changed solutions - were you ok with the old solutions c) Are you a new wearer? d)It would be worth having an examination with your optometrist to see if you have any problems with your eyes i.e infections, allergies. With the answers to these questions your optometrist will be able to work out what is causing the problem. Regards, CLI
Re: Eyes burn when first inFrom: Paul CommentsThanks for your reply. Someone also suggested that when I wash my hands prior to applying lenses I use a mild soap and thoroughly rinse to make sure all soap residue is gone. I tried that and am now experiencing little or no discomfort. I went for an eye exam on 12/24 and everything looked good. Editor - should have thought of that one!
