Contact lenses offer numerous advantages over glasses, it has been claimed.
Writing for the Times, Luke Leitch pointed out that contact lenses are better when playing sports and provide a better field of vision than spectacles.
He added that, unlike the lenses of glasses, contact lenses do not mist up.
But Mr Leitch also admitted that concern over his appearance was the greatest factor in his decision to opt for contact lenses.
"The primary reason any man chooses contacts over glasses is vanity," he said.
Mr Leitch also observed that sunglasses can be a fashion statement.
Recently, Helen Boyle gave advice for finding stylish sunglasses on the ITV website.
She said that John Lennon style frames are fashionable now, as are oversized ones and those inspired by 1070s trends.
In addition, Ms Boyle recommended that people with square faces opt for sunglasses with round or oval lenses, while round faces look best in square or rectangular shapes.
