Employees at Boston University are now able to make use of a new eye care benefits scheme.
Set up through the New England Eye Institute (NEEI) by the human resources office, the university is offering the scheme to staff members and their families, campus publication BU Today reports.
Executive director of employee benefits, Nimet Gundogan, said the initiative is "something employees can take advantage of that provides them with savings".
Under the system, staff who are involved in a health insurance plan with the university will have certain payments waived at participating NEEI outlets.
NEEI runs a number of clinics and centres with an emphasis on communities.
It has several initiatives created to reach particular groups of people and collaborates continually with health professionals.
Target groups for its programmes include vulnerable people such as the elderly, mentally or physically disabled or homeless.
It is the New England College of Optometry"s teaching affiliate.
