Baseball player tests out new contact lenses

A US baseball player is to try his new contact lenses in a game for the first time.

Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann is wearing contact lenses in both eyes although his vision is blurred in just one, MLB.com reports.

He will try them out in a two-game Minor League session, playing for Myrtle Beach.

Mr McCann is listed as disabled and may need to have repeat Lasik surgery in the future.

His eye doctor Alan Kozarsky thought it better for him to wear two contact lenses rather than one.

Mr McCann also suffers from dryness in his left eye.

Earlier this month, the Canadian Press reported that Mr McCann was using vision correction.

"It"s going to be a process and I hope it doesn"t take more than a week to get under the lights and start seeing like I did last year," he said.

He had been found to be shortsighted in his left eye.
