A new brand of solution for gas permeable contact lenses has been released.
OSN SuperSite reports the launch of the Opti-Free GP contact lens solution from Alcon.
A multi-purpose solution, it is used for cleaning and disinfecting gas permeable contact lenses.
It contains the Tetronic 1304 molecule, intended to keep the contact lenses moist throughout the day, as well as Polyquad for disinfection purposes.
Alcon claims to be the biggest eye care company in the world, with offices in more than 75 countries and business being carried out in over 180.
It was set up in 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas, but was acquired by Nestle SA in 1978, which owns 52 per cent of it, and then incorporated in Switzerland.
However, its US arm is still set in Fort Worth.
The shares not owned by Nestle SA trade under the symbol of ACL on the New York Stock Exchange.
Net earnings in 2008 were worth $2 billion (£1.20 billion).
