Makeup tips for contact lens wearers

Johnson and Johnson (J&J), the maker of 1 Day Acuvue Moist, have a published a guide to wearing eye makeup.

Contact lens wearers who wear eye makeup need to have a routine for applying and removing it, there are a few other considerations that will help keep eyes healthy.

Basically, says J&J. It all boils down to good hygiene, but a routine that includes putting in contacts before applying makeup and removing them before cleaning the eyelids is also important.

Oil-free products should be used and mascara should be replaced every month, eyeliner every three months and eye shadow every six months.

Another important note about mascara is that those with lengthening fibres should not be used, as they can damage contact lenses.

Many cosmetics manufacturers now produce hypoallergenic products and these are the best to use for contact lens wearers.

Any redness, discomfort or pain in the eyes should immediately prompt a trip to the opticians or doctors for a checkup.
