Eye care experts will gather in Abu Dhabi later this month to teach a masterclass for retinal surgeons across the Middle East, it has been revealed.
Some 50 specialists are expected to attend the two-day event, which will be held at the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi, on December 10th and 11th, reports AmeInfo.
Dr Chris Canning, medical director at Moorfields Eye Hospital in Dubai, commented that the event is part of Moorfields" commitment to conduct research, teaching, and the treatment of eye conditions in the Middle East.
He added: "The retinal masterclass will be hosted at the Imperial College London Diabetes Center in Abu Dhabi, reflecting the importance of diabetes in our agenda, as you would expect in this region."
The retina is a sensitive layer in the eye that transmits images through the optic nerve to the brain.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that a new type of lens has been developed that may give people perfect vision when inserted into the eye.
