Coloured contact lenses are featured in a new film directed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.
The film, based on Alice Sebold"s best-selling novel, centres around a girl who is murdered on her way home from school.
She soon realises she is not in heaven but stuck between life and the after-life and is able to watch her family and killer from this strange world.
Actor Stanley Tucci, who plays her killer, George Harvey, dons a pair of coloured contact lenses for the role.
Jackson said: "I"ve done a lot of movies with contact lenses in actor"s eyes and to me they change the color of your eye. If there"s something going on with the character"s eyes it"s because of the performance."
The recently-released vampire film, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, also featured coloured contact lenses with Dakota Fanning wearing red models for her latest role.
