A group in Taunton is collecting unwanted spectacles today (January 29th).
The Anne Frank Trust UK is behind the spectacle collection and the glasses will be sent to developing countries, reports the BBC.
Alongside local vicar Rev Bruce Thompson, the charity is also launching a new award for teenagers on the Somerset area that have made a positive impact on other people"s lives.
Speaking to the news provider, Liz Payne Ahmadi, who is organising the collections, said: "What we want to do is to collect spectacles to send to places in the world that need spectacles.
"Instead of it being something very horrible and very bad, what we are actually doing is collecting heaps of spectacles for a good purpose."
Earlier this month, the Leigh Reporter reported that a group of local women are collecting spectacles for the charity Sight Savers.
Any unwanted glasses can be dropped off at branches of Seddons Opticians.
