Contact lens manufacturer Bausch + Lomb has appointed Robert Steffen as director of clinical affairs in its vision care work.
He will provide clinical support for new product development, which may be good news for contact lens wearers out there.
Dr Steffen will also lead the firm"s global clinical research teams and work with external partners to ensure rapid production of Bausch + Lomb contact lens and lens care products.
He had previously been director of surgical product analysis at Bausch + Lomb since being appointed in 2007.
Talking about Dr Steffen, Joseph Barr, vice president of global clinical and medical affairs and professional services for vision care at the company, commented: "His track record of innovation in the contact lens field, process improvement expertise with Bausch + Lomb R&D [research and development], rigor in clinical visual science and enthusiasm inspire his colleagues."
In other developments, Bausch + Lomb recently joined forces with NicOx in a deal that sees the former gain worldwide rights for nitric oxide-donating compound NCX 116 for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
