Bausch + Lomb has announced it will continue with its grant support initiatives for North American cornea and contact lens residents.
Specifically, the support will be given to those who want to attend the Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS) and the 2009 American Academy of Optometry (AAO) Meeting.
This year, Bausch + Lomb supported the attendance of 22 cornea and contact lens residents at GSLS by providing an unrestricted grant to cover registration fees.
Last year, the organisation provided support for 21 cornea and contact lens residents with travel grants to attend the 2009 AAO meeting in Orlando.
"Through resident and student travel grants, we are able to directly support the future leaders of the eye care community," commented Mohinder Merchea, director of medical affairs in North America for vision care at Bausch + Lomb.
The organisation, in work with the American Optometric Foundation, recently announced the 2009-2010 recipients of the William C Ezell Fellowships, designed to give people the chance to pursue careers in optometric research and education.
