Contact lens wearers hoping to achieve the three-tone eye look should have the rest of their face looking neutral so attention is drawn to their peepers, it has been suggested.
This can be achieved with nude lips used in conjunction with some peachy blusher over the cheeks, explained celebrity make-up artist Oonagh Connor, in her guide to the look for the Daily Mail.
As for what colours to use, Ms Oonagh recommended starting with some turquoise shadow.
A "darker shimmery blue shade" should also be used and this will meet a line created with the first eyeshadow down the centre of the eyelid, she explained.
"Take a silvery white eyeshadow and following the line at the crease of the eye fill in the space up to the eyebrow so you can see three distinct colours," Ms Connor added.
Hilary Mantel, writing for the Guardian, recently claimed that navy and purple colours are being used to make the popular smoky eye look more up to date.
