Contact lens manufacturer Bausch + Lomb has announced the appointment of Brent Saunders as chief executive officer.
The contact lens producer has also revealed Fred Hassan is now the chairman of Bausch + Lomb"s board of directors.
Current chairman and chief executive officer Gerald M Ostrov is retiring, but will still help the company as a consultant to the new leaders.
"My goal is to power up Bausch + Lomb to its rightful position as the global innovation leader in eye health," Mr Saunders commented.
He said that the company is turning "the talented people of Bausch + Lomb into a winning team".
Mr Saunders had previously held the position of senior vice president and president of drug maker Schering-Plough"s consumer healthcare unit.
Robert Steffen, who joined Bausch + Lomb in 2007, was recently named as the company"s director of clinical affairs of its vision care business.
He will provide clinical support for new product development.
