Johnson & Johnson subsidiary unveils comfortable contact lenses

By Martin Burns

Vistakon, the Florida-based contact lens subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, has unveiled a new type of contact lens which it claims are more comfortable for the user to wear.

The company claims that the new lens, called the 1-Day Acuvue TruEye, uses different material that will not only be more comfortable to wear, but also help to improve overall eye health, Jacksonville.com reports.

Vistakon president Dave Brown said that the TruEye lens uses a material called silicone hydrogel, which allows more oxygen to reach the eye than other lenses, and so enhances comfort.

He told the source: "We really believe in this way to wear contact lenses. We have a great heritage and commitment to new products. We"re very committed to Jacksonville and what we"re doing here."

It comes after Johnson & Johnson announced that its new 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism will offer the "widest power range" of any daily disposable for astigmatism currently on the market.
