Contact lenses "should be in any disaster kit"

Homes at risk of natural disaster, such as those in a flood plain, should have a disaster kit containing essentials such as Contact lenses, a source has warned.

A report by WLFI.com advised people whose homes may be at risk of a disaster to ensure they always have a kit packed so they can leave the house immediately in an emergency without having to root around for essentials.

As contact lenses are an essential item for many people, the source advised always having them nearby so that their vision will not be impaired when they leave the house.

It advised: "Rethink your kit and family needs at least once a year. Use an easy-to-carry container for the supplies you would most likely need for an evacuation, like a large cargo container that will fit on the roof."

Meanwhile, contact lens wearers may also wish to pack a trusted solution in their kit, with the most reliable and safe solutions often being those which are available at a wide range of stockists, according to the charity Action for Blind People.
