Those heading off on holiday have been advised to keep some Contact lens solution in their hand luggage, in case they face long delays at the airport.
Rudy Maxa, contributing editor to National Geographic Traveler, and Brett Snyder, president of CrankyConcierge.com, told the Detroit News that travelers should plan for the possibility that they could be stuck for some time after a cancellation.
"Don"t forget a day or two of contact lens fluid or your medicine. Travel packs of contact lens solution are ideal for this.
Mr Maxa and Mr Snyder also advised packing a change of underwear, snacks, books and anything else that cold help to pass time during a lengthy delay.
The experts said that it is important for people to have travel insurance, but to compare the fine print of different policies to ensure they will get the best cover.
On the subject of contact lens fluid, the charity Action for Blind People recently suggested that people should invest in a solution which is trusted and commercially available.
