Contact lens wearers offered comfort tips

Although the majority of contact lens wearers have no trouble with the products, some people suffer from discomfort when wearing them for the first time, and this group has been offered tips on how to alleviate the problem.

Ted Sherman, writing for Helium.com, advised contact lens wearers who need to get used to the products to keep them clean and, when removing them, to use medicated fluid at least once every 12 hours.

"Check with your opthomologist about the best brand of fluid to use. Some have chemicals and salts in them that could irritate some sensitive eyes. If you use plain water, make sure it is filtered and absolutely without additives," he explained.

Mr Sherman pointed out that there are now so many varieties of contact lenses available that those who want coloured or other ornately designed lenses should check with their doctor before buying.

Recently, Edward James, writing for Helium.com, advised new contact lens wearers to always follow the manufacturer"s instructions for optimum comfort.
