Bausch + Lomb has launched a new brand of contact lens solution aimed at people who are conscious about their impact on the environment.
Biotrue is a new solution which uses hyaluronan, a substance which resembles tears and was initially used for ocular surgery, and is not currently used in any other contact lens solution, the New York Times reported.
As well as basing the liquid on a natural substance, the box which the products come in is also recyclable, meaning it is likely to appeal to environmentally-conscious contact lens wearers, said Lisa VanDeMark, vice president for brand marketing at the company"s United States vision care unit.
Recently, Bausch + Lomb teamed with award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden for a new campaign designed to encourage parents and children to make vision care a priority, with the 50-year-old actress saying that she "knows the value" of clear focus when it comes to her offspring.
