Johnson & Johnson recalls contact lenses in Macau

By Martin Burns

Johnson & Johnson has recalled a batch of contact lenses in Macau as a precautionary measure.

The contact lens manufacturer is recalling a limited number of boxes from select lots of 1-Day Acuvue TruEye made in Ireland, after users in Japan complained of slight eye irritation and some discomfort.

Approximately 4,000 boxes of contact lenses have been recalled while the company conducts an investigation, though a statement by Johnson & Johnson confirmed that "an isolated issue in one portion of the lens rinsing process on a particular manufacturing line affected a limited number of lots".

Any users affected can take the product, along with its original packaging, to an eyecare professional or the shop they bought it from between now and September 22nd to exchange for a replacement.
