Eye protection should be a part of the uniform for people playing potentially dangerous sports, particularly among children, it has been claimed.
According to the National Eye Institute, the increasing number of eye injuries in school-aged children has made it the leading cause of blindness in the US, and more needs to be done to protect youngsters.
Now the awareness organisation Prevent Blindness has claimed that this highlights the fact that protective equipment needs to be provided with the uniform children wear for each potentially dangerous activity.
"When parents are purchasing sports uniforms and equipment for their child, we urge everyone to add eye protection to the shopping list," the charity stated.
Further eyecare advice was recently issued to young girls by the RAK Hospital, which said that contact lens wearers should take care when handling the products, the Khaleej Times reports.
