Safety organisation offers eye health tips

A safety organisation has issued eye health information in a bid to make people aware of the dangers of not protecting their vision.

HealthyEyes.org.uk has published tips including being extra careful when taking part in DIY tasks, specifically as there are 20,000 eye accidents a year in the UK as a direct result of people taking part in home improvement activities.

In addition, the organisation stressed the importance of taking regular screen breaks for those who work long hours in front of a computer.

Finally, keeping eyes well protected from the sun is another essential practice for those looking to maintain their vision, it stated.

"You can stay safe by wearing good quality sunglasses - they needn"t be expensive, but should carry the CE mark," the website advised.

Recently, the Lifestyle section of iloveindia.com issued a number of tips for contact lens wearers, recommending that people always wear sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat when in the sun to avoid the possibility of its UV rays causing damage.
