CooperVision has revealed that it has signed an agreement to acquire Asahikasei Aime Co's operations for the sale and research and development (R&D) of contact lenses and related products.
According to the contact lens manufacturer, the deal has been made through its newly established Japanese company Aime Corp.
CooperVision is a US-based manufacturer of contact lenses, while Asahikasei Aime is a Japan-based subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Corporation, specialising in the manufacture of contact lenses.
"Pursuant to this transfer, scheduled to occur on December 1st 2010, Asahi Kasei Aime will continue to manufacture contact lenses and related products," CooperVision said in a statement.
Earlier this month CooperVision launched a new initiative to encourage young sportsmen and women to maintain healthy vision and take care of their sight.
The company is strengthening its commitment to local community athletes and teens through its Gear Up Grants programme, which helps teens understand how healthy vision can improve their competitive performance both on and off the field.
