Contact lens manufacturer Menicon has announced the appointment of a new chief technical officer (CTO), with Steve Newman assuming the position.
Mr Newman joined the company during the acquisition of ClearLab's Flat Pack technology from 1-800 Contacts in June 2007 and has since been developing the first production lines for the introduction of Menicon One Day Flat Pack early next year.
In his new role, he will direct product planning, brand strategy, packaging strategy and manufacturing strategy, in addition to the Flat Pack Project, on a global basis.
Commenting on the appointment, he said: "I am extremely delighted to take on these new roles to help shape a major rebranding effort for Menicon. The impending launch of Menicon One Day Flat Pack makes it a very exciting time to be part of Menicon."
Meanwhile, a new deal has been signed by Menicon and Optimed for the former company to become the exclusive distributor for CAPTIV8 communication services and i-Vue content-driven digital signage software.
