Washing hands "a golden rule" for contact lens wearers

Washing hands "a golden rule" for contact lens wearers

Contact lens wearers should never forget to wash their hands when handling or storing contact lenses, one source has claimed, as a surprising number of people neglect to do this.

A post on the Times of India website pointed out that hygiene is essential when using contact lenses but this is not always something which wearers remember, and the result can often lead to bacteria contaminating the lens.

For people with reusable lenses, the website advised them to "clean and disinfect every day", while female contact lens wearers were also issued with important information.

The source said that make-up should always be applied after contact lenses are put in so that no eyeliner or mascara touches the lens.

In a recent article on Coffee Today, a writer named Stefani noted that eyelash extensions can still be worn by contact lens users, as long as they take extra care when wearing the two different products.
