Another circle lens warning is issued

Another warning has been issued to contact lens wearers about the dangers of using 'circle' lenses to imitate famous people.

Dr Melanie Pickett, assistant professor of clinical ophthalmology at Indiana University's School of Medicine, told the Chicago Tribune there are numerous risks associated with wearing lenses which replicate Lady Gaga's look in her Bad Romance music video.

In the video, the star's eyes appear larger than life, but this was achieved through the use of CGI and Dr Pickett noted that people who buy circle lenses online are taking their health into their own hands.

"Complications can happen quickly or over time and the patient may not even know until the problem has occurred," the expert said.

Recent eye advice was issued by Dr Intizar Hussain, chairman of the Prevention of Blindness Trust, who told Gulf News that weak eyesight in children is a strong sign that they will develop vision problems or have an early stage disorder.
