Hybrid contact lenses offer patients greater comfort than some other forms of the product, according to one industry professional.
Dr Adam Schwartz, an optometrist with Vision Source Las Vegas, said that the experience of wearing duette hybrid contact lenses, such as those manufactured by SynergEyes, is always a positive one for any patient he prescribes.
He noted that, before the introduction of hybrid contact lenses, patients could only choose between hard or gas permeable models that, although effective in enhancing vision, left some people in discomfort.
Dr Schwartz explained: "Most of my patients that I have fit with the duette lenses were satisfied with their contact lenses, but now it's like watching a regular television for years and then switching to high-definition plasma television."
Last week, CooperVision launched its new line of Avaira Toric silicone hydrogel lenses, which are used to help astigmatic patients, after they proved so popular in a trial run in June last year.
