Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, the US, is to host the 25th Southeastern Vitreoretinal Seminar (SEVR) next week.

Set to take place from Friday Feburary 11th to Saturday the 12th, the seminar will be held at the Calhoun Auditorium within the Learning Resources Center in the Emory Clinic, Building B.

It will run from 08:00 to 17:00 local time on the Friday and from 08:00 to 12:00 on the Saturday.

It will allow eye experts to meet and discuss issues of the retina and treatments for various optical disorders.

"The retina is the light-sensitive layer of tissue that lines the inside of the eye and sends visual messages through the optic nerve to the brain," a statement from Emory Eye Centre reads.

Last month, Simon O'Neill, director of care, information and advocacy at Diabetes UK, said that it is important for people with diabetes to undergo annual optical examinations that include retinal photographs, as these patients can be prone to eye problems.
