Having a regular and hygienic contact lens routine is vital if people are to avoid potential eye infections, according to one expert on the subject.
Chicago-based optometrist Dr Michael Slusky said that it is important for contact lens wearers to follow any manufacturers" instructions on the products, particularly regarding how long the lenses should be worn for and directions on changing and disposing of them.
He pointed out that it may also be a good idea for contact lens wearers to invest in a device such as Vistakon Acuminder tool, which tells people when they need to replace their lenses.
"By not following instructions on proper wear and care, contact lens wearers are more likely to experience discomfort and may put themselves at greater risk for infection or other serious complications," Dr Slusky explained.
