Protecting the eyes from dangerous UV rays is not only important during the summer months, one expert has pointed out.
The spring sun and even a clear winter"s day pose risk to people"s vision if they have not take steps to protect their eyes, according to Dr Scott Lambert, a professor of ophthalmology at Emory University.
He pointed out that young people tend to spend more time in the sun than adults and so it is particularly important to safeguard this demographic through the likes of a sunhat or UV sunglasses or contact lenses.
"The damage that sun exposure does to our eyes is cumulative, meaning the danger to our eyes grows as we spend more and more time in the sun. Proper protection from UV rays is essential to keeping eyes safe and healthy," he explained.
