A new contact lens solution has been described as a "next-generation" disinfectant by its manufacturer, Abbott.
According to the firm, its RevitaLens OcuTec disinfecting solution for silicone hydrogel and conventional soft contact lenses will help to revitalise the market when it is launched in Singapore.
The company says the product increases comfort compared with normal solutions, while also coming in a single bottle and having input from over 600 eyecare experts during the formulation stages to ensure it is as effective as possible.
Jim Mazzo, senior vice-president at Abbott Medical Optics, commented: "Proper contact lens care, including a rub and rinse regimen using RevitaLens OcuTec, will help patients achieve clean and comfortable lenses while enhancing overall lens-wearing satisfaction."
Recently, an article in the Irish Independent noted that contact lens wearers should never re-use solution or top it up, recommending instead that people discard it and replace it with fresh solution each time the lenses are stored.
