The Macular Disease Society (MDS) has announced that nominations are now open for its forthcoming awards ceremony.
September this year will see the organisation host its annual event, which recognises the efforts of eye care professionals in the UK, at the Park Plaza Victoria hotel in central London.
The society is now accepting nominations for the ceremony's three categories - Clinical Service of the Year, Support Service of the Year and the Chairman's Award - and hopefuls have until May 31st to enter.
Commenting on the event, Helen Jackman, chief executive of the MDS, told Optometry Today: "Our awards are very well received by eye care professionals and volunteers alike and we're looking forward to receiving this year's nominations.
"It's always heartening to hear how someone has made such a difference to the lives of other people – there are some really inspiring people working within the sector and volunteering within the local community for people with visual impairments and I'm proud we can honour them in this way."
Winners of the trophies will be notified by the society by August 1st ahead of the annual conference on September 17th.
