People who spend a large proportion of their day in front of a computer screen should have their eyes tested on a regular basis, one expert has advised.
Daska Barnett, an optometrist and founder of Specs of Kensington, said although there is no evidence that prolonged periods sitting in front of a computer is detrimental to health, it definitely leads to discomfort, as well as tiredness, which can strain the eyes.
She advised: "Our message is to encourage people to have their eyes examined to make sure that they are performing comfortably in the workplace, which means that they are not troubled by symptoms while they"re at work."
This will lead to greater all-round productivity and employee satisfaction, the specialist claimed.
