The key to proper contact lens safety is compliance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer, it has been claimed.
That is the message coming out of the most recent conference held by the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA), which was attended by some of the leading figures in the eyecare industry, Optician Online reported.
At the Manchester event, sector leaders came together to tackle some of the key issues affecting the industry and decided that the disregard for manufacturer instructions was a major problem.
Over the four days, over 1,100 people attended the event and took part in networking sessions as well as attending seminars on new industry developments, Optician Online noted.
Next year's BCLA annual conference will take place between May 24th and 27th at the ICCC in Birmingham.
Meanwhile, according to Dr Jeanette Romualdez Oo, professional services consultant at Ciba Vision, the fact that more people are wearing contact lenses than ever before only increases the need for them to follow proper contact lens hygiene regimes.
