The best means of caring for contact lenses is to use the rub and rinse method to clean them, according to a recent study.
Research carried out in Australia and published in the an issue of Optometry and Vision Science, the journal of the American Academy of Optometry, suggests that the rub and rinse method is highly effective at disinfecting lenses, Contact Lens Headlines reported.
According to the research, rubbing and rinsing contact lenses under a stream of multipurpose disinfecting lens solution for a few seconds and then storing the contacts in a case of fresh solution is the best way to ensure the surface of the product is free from bacteria.
Meanwhile, other research conducted as part of the AC Nielsen MarketTrack showed that the products which people use to clean and care for their contact lenses can vary greatly between countries, with hydrogen peroxide care systems becoming increasingly popular among some wearers.
