The global eyewear market has forecast high growth, according to a new market research report.
Noting North America is the largest market, the study found varifocals are seeing an increase in demand and the transition to disposable contact lenses and popularity of specialty lenses is also driving market growth.
Research also noted individuals over the age of 50-55 are larger users of photochromatic lenses, in comparison to younger users.
The report went on to find eyewear designers are focusing on bright, multi-coloured and bejewelled designs of sunglasses.
It noted different designs of sunglasses are being developed for casual wear, use in the office, party wear, or for the beach.
Additionally, the report found eyewear companies are targeting emerging markets in Asia, such as India and China.
The market is also seeing an increase in the use of cosmetic contact lenses particularly following films where the stars change their temperance or eye colour using contact lenses.
