A new contact lens clinic has been launched in a bid to boost the number of people having their eyes checked.
The facility is located in the Dr T M A Pai Hospital in Karkala, India, and advises people about the type of contact lens which would best suit them, should they require vision correction, the Times of India reported.
The facility was inaugurated recently by Dr R R Pulgaonkar, medical superintendent at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, while a special eye screening week is taking place to encourage the public to have their vision assessed.
"Delivering the inaugural address, Dr R R Pulgaonkar said the clinic at the hospital has qualified and experienced professionals who ensure that the patients are given the best lenses after scientific testing in a friendly environment," the newspaper stated.
Meanwhile, writing for Jacksonville.com, Dr Amit Chokshi, a board-certified ophthalmologist with Chokshi and Coluccelli Eye Institute, pointed out that having an eye test can help people to determine whether they are suitable for vision correction.
