Those who are considering getting laser eye surgery should ensure that they have several consultations before making their decisions, it has been claimed.
Zara Rabinowicz, a beauty expert, has claimed that it is crucial people make an informed decision and so they should seek out help from several independent sources.
She advised people to speak to the person carrying out the procedure rather than an assistant or nurse and that they are clear about what they want.
Ms Rabinowicz said: "[It] is a major procedure so shop around till you"re comfortable with the clinic - focus on how you feel more than the price."
She also emphasised the importance of waiting until the person is old enough to make an informed decision.
Her comments follow the publication of a survey by Liberate Cosmetic Surgery that found that a quarter of females considered an operation to improve their appearance between the ages of ten and 15.
