Contact lens pioneer Menicon has announced a revamping of its operations in order to boost its research and development work.
The company said that the "major reorganisation" in its international operations and creation of a new global management team in Menicon Holdings BV in the Netherlands will boost competiveness and hopefully improve its position as an "emerging global player" in the contact lens industry.
"Effective immediately, Menicon says the changes will "fundamentally reorganise" its company's non-Japanese entities to speed up the introduction of innovative new products and services to support its growing contact lens business.
Toshio Matsushima, executive officer at Menicon, said the company is at an "important crossroads" in its evolution as a global company and a major step as it looks to boost its overseas operations.
"This reorganisation, along with the creation of our international headquarters, Menicon Holdings, is designed to transform Menicon into a more integrated and agile, globally focused company," he added.
