Advice on adding sparkle to tired eyes the morning after a busy night has been offered.
Sally Penford of the International Dermal Institute told Halifax and Calderdale newspaper, the Evening Courier, to look for products that diffuse light.
"These will act like a multitude of tiny miscroscopic mirrors that deflect the light away from the eye and help disguise dark circles," she explained.
Ms Penford also noted that Chinese medicine believes dark circles to be a sign of kidney stress.
And David Horne of the Jemma Kidd Make Up School suggested mixing concealer with eye cream in the case of dry skin.
According to essortment.com, waterproof eyeliner and mascara are preferable options for those who wear contact lenses.
Mascara should be labelled hypo-allergenic and as being safe for contact lens wearers to use, the website says.
Any mascara that thickens lashes using fibres and silicone should not be used by contact lens wearers, it adds.
