Contact lens wearers offered makeup tips

People who wear contact lenses, particularly coloured ones, will know that it can often be hard to choose the right makeup to accentuate their eyes while keeping with the rest of their face.

For many who wear a style of contact lens that is already striking, they do not want to detract from the fact that they are wearing statement contacts, yet also want to ensure that the rest of their makeup looks just right.

However, help is at hand, in the shape of makeup and style expert Renato Almeida, who is also Shiseido"s celebrity make-up artist, who told the Washington Post that people who wear contact lenses and have brown eyes can generally "get away with anything", as the shade suits most colours.

"Try a smoky eye using purple, green, bronze or even a deep blue eyeshadow. The secret for a clean look is to do your eyes first. In this way when you finish the eye makeup application you can clean any shadow," he advised.

For people who wear blue contact lenses Mr Almeida said that another trick is to trace the inside rim of the eyes with a beige coloured pencil to conceal any redness, as this will give the perfect effect of being striking without over-powering.

His advice was also recently backed up by Models Direct, which it said that those who wear the coloured lenses can look their best by ensuring that their makeup has been carefully selected to complement the colour of their eyes.

It agreed that coloured contact lens wearers can often encounter problems when choosing the right makeup, but noted that, by taking their time and also listening to the opinions of their family and friends – as well as taking tips from fashion experts – people can ensure they look great when out and about.
