The global market for contact lenses continues to go from strength to strength, with sales of the vision care products continuing to rise, a new report has revealed.
Figures published by market research firm GfK and seen by Asia One show that contact lenses are hugely popular in Asia, with sales for the last three months bringing in approximately $211 million (£134 million).
Overall, Taiwan remains the number one consumers of contact lenses in the continent, with 14.5 million units sold each month.
Jasmine Lim, regional account director for lifestyle products at GfK Asia, said that silicon hydrogel lenses, also known as oxygen permeable lenses, are the most popular type due to their comfort convenience.
In the first nine months of the year, sales of cosmetic lenses in Asia also grew by 19 per cent as the popularity of these forms of lenses continued to rise, Asia One reports the data as showing.
