People who regularly take part in sporting activity often encounter great difficulty when their eyesight starts to fail and they require vision correction.
Not only does it affect their hand-eye coordination – which is essential for many sports – but the though of wearing glasses can be impractical and even dangerous.
For these people, it may be worth trying contact lenses, as they can provide a safe and effective solution to the issues, noted Mary Comber, editor of Health & Fitness magazine.
"With ordinary glasses, sweating can create a problem – glasses can slip down your nose – and when doing vigorous exercise such as dancing for example, or inverted yoga poses, they can fall off," she noted.
In addition, working out in very cold weather can cause lenses to steam up so, in these instances, contact lenses are a great option, she suggested.
Many famous sportsmen and women have highlighted the benefits of using contact lenses when playing, including the world's number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic.
