Indian bridegrooms are trading their glasses for contact lenses on their wedding days to make the most of their appearances, it has been reported.
Bausch & Lomb carried a poll which found that 82 per cent of men would go for contact lenses when they marry, the Hindu reports.
Sunil Gadgil, general manager of Bausch & Lomb India, told the paper that the demand for colourless contact lenses increases in the wedding season.
He added that coloured contact lenses are also popular, with interest growing in brown ones.
He said that an increased awareness of contact lenses has fuelled the demand as well as the fact that men are paying more attention to their appearance.
Furthermore, he said nearly 90 per cent of men who try contact lenses in any particular year carry on wearing them.
