Contact lens manufacturer Bausch + Lomb (B+L) has unveiled its latest line of contacts, which the company claims will help to make life easier for people with blurred vision.
According to the organisation, the Biotrue ONEday daily disposable contact lens is designed to deliver more oxygen than a traditional hydrogel, while maintaining the comfort of conventional hydrogels.
The contacts utilise an innovative new bio-inspired material, which B+L says helps them to retain moisture and optical shape, even after hours of wear, and allows oxygen to flow freely through the lens.
According to the company, the lenses contain 78 per cent water, which is the same water content as the cornea, while delivering virtually the same oxygen level as the open eye.
Dr Calvin Roberts, executive vice president and chief medical officer of B+L, said they will help to solve the problem of blurred vision, which can be caused by the eyes drying out towards the end of the day.
"HyperGel helps our new Biotrue ONEday contact lenses mimic our own healthy tears and are proven to maintain the same moisture level as the natural eye. This helps them retain their shape and maintain clear vision throughout the day," he added.
