It is now far easier to be a contact lens wearer than it used to be, with modern lenses easier to care for than their predecessors and disposable ones even more so.
Elizabeth Renter, writing for Voxxi, pointed out that contact lens wearers will not encounter any problems if they follow manufacturer instructions.
This means not wearing contact lenses for longer than the recommended wear time, as this can lead to dry eyes or irritation, and also ensuring that they are removed and disposed of if they cannot be re-worn.
For people who have reusable contact lenses, problems can still be avoided, as long as the cleaning process is followed correctly and the right type of contact lens solution is used.
Ms Renter added: "Do not “top off” your contact lens solution with water to make it last longer. This dilutes the active ingredients and can lessen the effectiveness of the solution. Ophthalmologists recommend never diluting your contact lens solution."
