Contact lenses turn man into werewolf

Contact lenses turn man into werewolf

Actor Russell Tovey has spoken of the role contact lenses play in his transformation for his new television role.

The 27-year-old plays Jewish werewolf George Sands in BBC3 drama Being Human, which begins this Sunday after a pilot last year.

He told the Northern Echo about the process of transformation.

"It starts off with me, then me with fake teeth and contact lenses, then I"ve got hair laid on to make my face look hairer," he said.

After that, he needs prosthetic heads and a prosthetic neck and torso.

George Sands lives in a house in Bristol with a vampire named Mitchell and a ghost called Annie.

They are played by Aidan Turner and Leonora Critchlow.

Past roles for Mr Tovey have included an appearance in Dr Who and Rudge in the original stage production of The History Boys, as well as in Sydney and Hong Kong.

He was born in Essex.
