Designer eyewear maker may raise stock

A shareholder for a designer eyewear maker is in talks on how to increase the company"s strength.

Only 3T, Safilo"s main shareholders, is discussing the potential for growth with various other organisations.

The organisation has almost 40 per cent of Safilo.

Reuters reports an article in Il Sole 24 Ore, a daily financial publication in Italy.

This stated that Safilo is considering being acquired by a private equity company and that three such firms, Bain Capital, CVC Capital Partners and Apax Partners, were interested in the possibility.

Reuters reported Only 3T"s comment that "the situation is in a talks phase and that at this time no agreement has been concluded".

Safilo makes eyewear for such names as Giorgio Armani and Gucci.

Meanwhile, Porsche Design in Germany has released two sunglasses whose design first appeared in the 1970s and 80s.

According to the Moodie Report, the retro sunglasses take the original design and appearance but are equipped with modern titanium, which is light and durable.
