Use peacock shades to highlight coloured eyes

This season's makeup trends include many blue and green hues, which could be perfect for highlighting coloured contact lenses.

Makeup artist Julia Francis from Juliafrancis.co.uk claims that autumn-winter 2012 "places a focus on the eyes," using natural faces and nude lips as a base for bold and bright tones.

"Colour trends we are likely to see are peacock colours and style and metallics," Ms Francis explained.

This could include combining cobalt blue, aubergine, indigo, midnight blue, navy, emerald green and mint, all of which could complement the colour of the eye, drawing further attention to it.

Other ways to follow this trend include thinking back to the 80s, "with liquid eyeliners in blue and green and coloured mascaras," both of which the makeup expert and stylist argues are likely to be seen on the catwalk right now.

To maximise the impact of these colourful eyes people could also try using iridescent eye shadows lined with kohl pencils to define the eye.
