Popular UK grocery store Tesco has announced that a popular brand of eye drops for contact lenses is being pulled off of the shelves. Tesco managers are advising all shoppers who purchased the Bausch & Lomb EasySept Hydro + Peroxide Solution 360 ml to stop using it immediately.
This particular Bausch & Lomb eye solution was found to have hazardous chemical compounds that can do serious damage to the eyes. Company officials are now saying that a "chemical fault" in this product could lead to "serious health consequences." Many people who have used this eye solution have already reported intense burning sensations in their eyes.
The main problem in this product is a high "residual" trace of peroxide. People using this eye solution in their lens case can infect their contact lenses with very dangerous chemicals.
At this time, the 360 ml peroxide solution is the only one proven to be hazardous to humans. Tesco has removed this particular product from all its UK stores, but all of Bausch & Lomb's other products are available for purchase.
Bausch & Lomb have yet to comment publically on this issue. However, they are willing to talk with concerned customers via phone or email.
People who purchased these eye drops at a Tesco store can bring them in for a refund. Although Tesco employees would like to see a receipt, they will give all customers a full refund without proof of purchase for this product.
If anyone is interested in getting more information on this recall, they can call their local Tesco store, or call Bausch & Lomb directly. Bausch + Lomb is based in Garden City, NY, and their UK customer care division handles product concerns at the toll-number 0845-602-2350. Tesco also recommends sending Bausch & Lomb an email at email@example.com.
