Visioneering Technologies Announces Stronger Contacts For Farsighted Patients.

The contact lens company Visioneering Technologies Inc. recently announced it will add “Plus Power” lenses to its NaturalVue Multifocal 1-day Contacts line. Executives made this announcement at the 2018 American Optometry Association gathering in Denver.

According to Visioneering Technologies’ representatives, these new Plus Power lenses will be the strongest 0.25 D steps in the soft multifocal daily disposable market. Including the Plus Power lenses, these NaturalVue dailies will soon range between strengths of +4.00 and -12.15.

The new Naturalvue Multifocal contacts will be sold in both 30- and 90-day packs. Optometrists can also give patients 10-day trial packs to test these stronger lenses out.

One reason Visioneering Technologies decided to expand its NaturalVue line was to take advantage of the growing demand for farsighted contacts. Current estimates suggest between 5 to 10 percent of Americans have hyperopia (aka farsightedness) while 40 percent have myopia (aka nearsightedness)

At the AOA meeting, company executives suggested contact lens manufacturers weren’t doing enough to help hyperopia patients. They also noted that farsightedness cases are set to increase due to the aging global population.

In the near future, Visioneering Technologies hopes to expand its NaturalVue line even further. In interviews with the press, company executives suggested making lenses that go up to +6.00.

Despite how the name sounds, people with farsightedness struggle to see items up close. Like nearsightedness, farsightedness is usually passed on genetically. While the most common solutions for farsightedness are contacts or glasses, certain farsighted patients could opt for LASIK eye surgery.

The main selling point behind all NaturalVue Multifocal Daily Lenses is that scientists used the techniques in camera optics to design their lenses. People who use these lenses claim they can see just as clearly as with traditional eyeglasses.

Dr. Richard A. Griffin founded Visioneering Technologies back in 2008. Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange under the ticker VTI, this Georgia-based business now holds 12 patents and is seeking 7 more. In addition to the NaturalVue Multifocal 1-Day Lenses, Visioneering Technologies offers customers the NaturalVue Sphere Lens.
